President

As I enter my 15th season with NTSC, I’m grateful for the friendships, community, and countless great days on snow that this Club has brought into my life. I’m honoured to step into the role of President for 2026/2027 and excited for the year ahead.

I’m committed to working closely with the Board and our volunteers to ensure NTSC remains strong, organized, and welcoming. Helping new members discover skiing and snowboarding has always been one of my favourite parts of being involved, and I’m proud of the supportive, fun environment we’ve built together.

Behind the scenes, NTSC runs on volunteer energy and teamwork. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, there are plenty of ways to match your interests with the Club’s needs.

Please reach out to Eric, our Vice President, if you’d like to help out. We’re looking forward to another fantastic season — see you on the slopes!

eric switzman
VICE-PRESIDENT

I joined NTSC in the 2010/2011 season when I was searching for like minded people to ski and travel with. While I have been fortunate to make new friends and travelled to some amazing ski resorts in Canada, USA, Europe and Asia, it is the day trips and lessons offered by our amazing ski school that has taken my skiing to another level making my ski trips even more enjoyable!

Since joining the club, I have also been introduced to Nordic (Cross Country skiing) , opening my eyes to the beautiful trails throughout Ontario and a new way to help stay active during our Canadian winters.

I’m looking forward to the new challenges that I will experience in the role of Vice-President for the 2026/2027 season and look forward to contributing to the club’s ongoing success. I am excited to work with the Board and our volunteers to help ensure NTSC remains strong, organized and welcoming so everyone can enjoy a fun and active Canadian winter.

Operating the Club as a volunteer-led nonprofit is a complex effort that depends on teamwork and shared commitment. If you’d like to get involved, there are plenty of ways to match your interests and strengths with what the Club needs.

If you are interested in helping out, please email me at vicepresident@ntsc.ca I look forward to seeing you all on the slopes, trail and socials.

MIRNA AJANOVIC
SECRETARY

I grew up in Sarajevo, an Olympic city where skiing was a way of life. I learned to ski at a young age and spent my winter breaks with my parents at Bosnian ski resorts or youth ski camps. After leaving Bosnia, my ski journey took a bit of a pause - but I rediscovered my love for the sport as an adult.

Through some friends, I discovered NTSC and joined during the 2013/14 season. I’ve never looked back! Over the past 12 seasons, I’ve made incredible friendships and unforgettable memories on and off the slopes.

After being an active member for over 10 years, I wanted to give back to the club that’s given me so much. I joined the Socials Committee as Chair for the 2024/25 season, and this year, I’m excited to step up as Secretary on the Board. In this role, I help keep things on track behind the scenes—coordinating meetings, capturing key decisions, and making sure communication flows so everyone stays informed and connected. That way, we can all focus on what really matters: skiing and having fun together!

cecila wang
Treasurer

I grew up on the West Coast but sadly never made good use of the nearby mountains until I moved to Toronto and COVID hit, forcing me to rediscover a winter activity to make the cold days more enjoyable.

Joining NTSC in 2021 was a game-changer. Not only did I improve my skiing skills by taking advantage of the free lessons and challenging myself on the longer trips, but I also made a lot of great friends.

The class settings, travel opportunities, and social activities off the hill have been fantastic for staying connected and meeting new people. I can now say that skiing has truly become one of my passions, and I am so happy to have found a community of like-minded people within NTSC.

The positive experiences I’ve had with NTSC inspired me to give back, so here I am in my third year with the club and my first as a board member.

As Treasurer I’m committed to helping improve the club and ensuring it runs smoothly. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Looking forward to seeing you on the slopes!

richard sikes
ALPINE DAY TRIPS DIRECTOR

After my boys left home and my wife retired her skis, I joined NTSC looking for fellow ski enthusiasts and quickly found my community.

Within two seasons I was volunteering as a bus captain and teaching in Snow School; by years three and four, I was contributing to the Day Trips Committee.

Today, I’m proud to serve as Day Trips Director for 2026/2027. As much as NTSC offers superb long travel opportunities and local social events, day trips are the heartbeat of NTSC. They’re more than transportation and logistics -  they’re where friendships form, confidence grows, and the NTSC spirit truly comes alive.

It’s a privilege to help shape that experience, and I encourage every member to consider getting involved as a bus captain or assistant. You’ll meet great people, become a familiar face in the club, and feel good about giving back.

I look forward to seeing you all on the slopes

LEIGH ROSAR
MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING DIRECTOR

I learned to ski as a child growing up in Hockley Valley, and was introduced to "the big hills" as a teenager when my family relocated to Calgary. I was lucky enough to spend my formative years skiing in Banff, Montana and BC. As grownup life took over and I was relocated back to Toronto for work; unfortunately skiing took a back seat for a number of years until finally I determined I missed it too much and needed to get back on the hills!

Through NTSC I found a wonderful new network of friends and by taking advantage of the ski school program I've seen a huge improvement in my skiing, but even as a beginner skiing for me was always a social sport; it was weekends away, apres at the pub, and trading snow stories with friends after a great day on the slopes.

As the Marketing & Membership Director my objective is to keep our club full of happy and engaged members who want to keep skiing and riding with NTSC for years to come.

Carmen Sampaleanu
NORDIC DIRECTOR

I discovered the club in 2020 and was delighted when I was able to join the Silver Star trip, one of the few that went ahead during the pandemic. I found a community of like-minded snow lovers, ready to face the cold for the thrill of the slopes and the magic of sliding through the snow. And ready to party all year long!

Learning to ski during my student years in Romania, my early snow experience was about seeking adventure on downhill slopes. The longer and steeper the better!

After coming to Canada, a friend introduced my husband and I to cross-country skiing, and suddenly, winters in Ontario started making sense. Since then, my passion for this winter sport only grew, as I was finding so many wonderful trails close to the city or even within the city.

So, it made perfect sense to start volunteering with the Nordic portfolio in 2022, to share my love of cross-country skiing and inspire others to get moving and find joy in the winter. I was thrilled to pass my Nordic instructor certification exam at the start of 2025! I can't wait to help some of you take your first glide through the snow. Here's to embracing winter's chill and turning it into a dance of endurance and grace.

brian coutinho
Technology Director

My role with NTSC is to help facilitate the use of technology with the club's day to day operations which includes our website, email, trip booking system and other backend operations and activities.

Almost anyone can strap a pair of skis or a snowboard to themselves and slide down a slope, but with NTSC , we can make you look good, feel confident and have a ton of fun doing so!

I would encourage you to come out and participate in a daytrip. They are a great way to keep busy over the winter months, and perfect for brushing up your skills if you're planning on some adventures elsewhere.

The clubs social gatherings are fantastic - so good that we've set the bar high for others to try and emulate. They are great way to connect with fellow members, make new connections and partake in many snow related discussions.

I always say "you get out what you put in" so "Carpe diem"  and Sieze the day!

Marc bailey
SNOW SCHOOL Director

I’ve been addicted to skiing ever since I was a kid, whether behind a boat on the water in my younger years or in the mountains on the snow later on, I wanted to slide.
After graduating from University I wanted to have a new social focus, I joined an adult traveling ski club much like NTSC, took their lessons and within 2 years I had my Level 1 instructor certification.

Fast forward 8 more years, I passed my Level 3 exams. In between I was that club’s Weekend Trip Director for 8 years then followed by being their SkiSchool Director. I found my skiing hit a plateau and turned to Racing and Coaching with the folks at Mansfield Ski Club. I took some time off to teach my kids to ski and returned to NTSC as a member back in 2014, soon after that I was “encouraged” to join the Snow School team.

My passion for sharing my ski knowledge was re-lit. I look forward to continuing the Legacy of our Snow School through teachin our members how to travel on the snow and experience all that the sports of skiing, snowboarding and cross country have to offer. Ski you on the slopes!!

STEPHANIE PALISEK
Social director

My first snowboard experience began on a Peruvian desert slope. Unlike Ontario's winter experience, we arrived by dune buggy, dressed in shorts, Ts and hiking boots. Eight years passed before I decided to embrace winter and join NTSC in 2017.  I used borrowed and rented equipment on my first day trip to MSL as a 'never ever' snowboarder.

During the 22/23 season, with the support and encouragement of the Snowboard School, I completed the CASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor Certification at Mt. Tremblant, my annual winter destination for kicking off and/or closing the season. Last year I joined the Snow School and taught beginner to novice snowboarders for the first time.  This encouraged me to become more involved with the club, so I also volunteered as a bus captain and social committee chair.

Community is central to NTSC's culture.  It's kept me coming back every year.  Alongside fellow members I've adventured to new destinations, reached higher peaks, gained skill and confidence as a boarder, and made new friends. Whether it's telling snow stories on the return journey; sharing snacks on the bus; or celebrating our progress; it's better with NTSC.

I'm proud to contribute to NTSC's ongoing success as your Socials Director for 25-26.  Throughout the year we typically plan two monthly socials:  a gathering at a bar/restaurant and a group activity, such as golf, pickleball, or a Jay's game.  Clear your calendar to join us at an upcoming social.  It's a great way to stay connected and meet members!

bruce staples
Travel director

Now in my fourth year with the club, I’m excited to step into the role of Travel Director.

My passion for skiing is matched by a passion for travelling and seeing the world.

My professional journey began in hotel and restaurant management, where I spent over seven years working in hospitality before transitioning into human resources and training & development. Throughout it all, my passion for travel has been a constant. That love eventually led me to become a travel agent, a role I've enjoyed for the past eight years. Being able to combine my experience in travel with my love for skiing is the perfect blend—and I’m thrilled to help plan memorable adventures for our club this season!
